Lassa Recall Effort Helped Her Campaign Raise Over $50,000

L to R: Sen. Julie Lassa and Mayor Chris Meyer

"While her website has turned its fundraising attention to her 2012 election, the big money push came last spring, when she was the target of an unsuccessful recall campaign. While she was never forced into an election because of it, that type of political activity, especially in a state full of rancor and recalls, can serve as a great fundraising drumbeat, Miller said. Lassa did not return multiple calls to her Madison and local offices, so it is unclear how much she used the recall atmosphere to raise money. Statewide, legislators raised about $6.8 million in the first six months, by far the most in the past 12 years, according to an analysis by the Madison-based Wisconsin Democracy Now."
