They left us, just when we needed them most!
As you know, the fight for our fiscal sanity and the rights of workers in Wisconsin has been raging for three weeks now. Just like our nation, our state is deep in debt and can not continue down the same path that the statists have taken it under Governor Doyle.
Governor Walker has decided to start down the path of fixing our budget problems with the Budget Repair Bill. With the changes in this bill, the public sector will finally be on the level with the private sector. The bill will also eliminate forced unionism and special treatment for the unions by government, and provide for many cuts to the size of government.
At this critical time, though, 14 senators fled the state and ran to Illinois in an attempt to circumvent our republican form of government. For some reason, these senators seem to think that it is OK to prevent our government from working, simply because they are afraid they will not get their way.
They have finally come crawling back, but the message was clear.
The only reason we even knew where the 14 missing senators were is because of a grassroots movement to locate them. If not for the grassroots, we would probably have never known where they went.
If we let this stand then every time the minority party does not like what the majority is doing, then all they have to do is flee the state and shut down the government. This helps no one; it is a slap in the face to our government, our state, and our nation.
The good news is that we are not going to let this stand. In fact, some of the senators that were AWOL at this important time are facing recall measures.
With your help, we can send these senators that have abandoned their job and their constituents a pink slip. We will not stand for politicians who abandon their jobs just because they do not want to do it.
I urge you to get involved in one or more of these recall efforts in any way that you can, this is the best way to tell these senators that we mean business.
